On Friday June 13th, three Dutch bands (I Am Oak, MTT and Traumahelikopter) will perform at the Grand Victory in Brooklyn, during the 'Dutch Sounds @ Northside' night. Doors will open at 8pm. No entrance fee!

I Am Oak is a folk/indie Utrecht-based band, founded in 2008 by Thijs Kuijken. The other members of the band are Stefan Breuer, Tammo Kersbergen and Robby Wouters. Since their debut in 2010, I Am Oak has built an impressive track record. They have won various prizes, has toured through thirteen countries, including performing at showcase festival SXSW in March 2012 and their albums have been released in many countries.

MTT (formerly known as Minus the Tiger) is a dark synth-pop band formed early 2010 around songwriter and singer Anne Broekman. MTT draws inspiration from horror movies, ghost stories and blends this other world with universal feelings of anxiety, melancholy and hope. The result is a neatly arranged interplay between deep bass and alienating sounds which place MTT squarely amongst one of the most refreshing Dutch acts today.

Traumahelikopter is a garagerock band with a devil-may-care-attitude, which was founded in Groningen in 2010 by leadvocalist Mark Lada, guitarist Daan van Dalen, and drummer Roel van Merlot. They produced their first full-length album in 2013, which was recorded in a week and got the band great reviews from a magazine like Maximum Rock ‘n Roll and many of the biggest Dutch newspapers. The single ‘Down In The City’ was featured by sites as Pitchfork and Noisey and ranked among Huffington Posts’ ‘Best Songs Of 2013’. The band has been touring non-stop ever since, playing all over Europe and now they are back in the US.
