Northside, it’s a wrap!

The Netherlands was the first guest-country in Brooklyn’s Northside Festival (the discovery festival for innovation, music and film), that took place last week from June 12-19. Throughout the festival, the Dutch were featured with a large presence showcasing innovative companies, technology, bands and film. We look back at a fantastic week full of good vibes.

Northside selected emerging bands I Am Oak, MTT and traumahelikopter to represent Dutch music at Dutch Sounds at The Grand Victory as part of the festival. These bands also rocked other venues, like the Music Hall of Williamsburg andthe Knitting Factory as part of the official Northside program.

As part of Northside Film, “Ne Me Quitte Pas” by Sabine Lubbe Bakker and Niels van Koevorden was screened at UnionDocs. With great reviews in various media, we are proud to have presented Brooklyn with such fine Dutch talent.

Three winners of the Dutch Pitch Night at the Wythe Hotel: Chordify, Dwillo and Screen 6

Northside innovation featured 11 startups from the Netherlands that showcased their latest innovations at the Dutch Pitch Session. Chordify, Dwillo and Screen 6 were selected by the judges of the evening as the winners. They will receive three months of access to working space and meeting rooms at the Dutch Consulate in New York City, as well as help in finding users, partners and investors for their products. Chordify is an intuitive, web-based service that puts music – from any source – into chords. Dwillo is an online platform that connects students, alumni and companies through meaningful mentorship relationships. Screen 6 provides the digital media industry with the best cross device advertising platform. Other tech innovators (also part of the bootcamp organized for startups by the Consulate) included the Founders of Clypper International, Dyflexis, Dwillo, Instant Magazine, Pauline van Dongen, Peecho, Surfly, Tunemelt, and We Share Solar.
