On February 13th and 16th the Rembrandt Chamber Players will perform an original composition by Sebastian Huydts with Dutch soprano Josefien Stoppelenburg in the Nichols Concert Hall in Evanston (13th) and in The PianoForte Foundation in Chicago (16th).
Huydts is a graduate of the Sweelinck Conservatory in The Netherlands. As a composer he has written repertoire for solo instruments as well as various ensembles ranging from duo to orchestra. His style seeks to combine 20th century innovations with traditional elements of Western music. Many of his works include the piano.
Special guest artist is Dutch soprano Josefien Stoppelenburg, whose voice The Chicago Classical Music praised for her “creamy tone, dead-on accuracy and dramatic interpretation”. In March 2014 she performed for the Dutch King Willem Alexander.
European Journey weaves together works from the Dutch, German, and French repertoires, spanning the Classical period to the present. Seize this rare opportunity to hear Sebastian Huydts’ energetic Quartet for piano and strings and watch Stoppelenburg perform Canteloube’s hauntingly beautiful Songs of the Auvergne.
A complimentary Meet & Mingle reception is arranged after the concert. The reception provides a unique opportunity to meet RCP musicians, guest artists, board members, and staff. Stick around, introduce yourself, and enjoy a glass or two of wine on the house!
