From November 19 until December 19, Dutch Hyperrealist artist Tjalf Sparnaay has an exhibition of new works at the Bernarducci Meisel Gallery in NY.

Tjalf Sparnaay

Since 1987, Tjalf Sparnaay has been working on an imposing oeuvre of never before painted works. His Megarealism is part of the contemporary and international art movement known as Hyperrealism. Sparnaay brings into view seemingly trivial objects, such as Barbies, hamburgers, and eggs, by making them almost overwhelmingly large. In doing so, Sparnaay allows himself to explore every element of the object in extreme detail and in this way fully understand its core. Sparnaay says about his own work: “My paintings are meant to allow the viewer to experience reality anew, to rediscover the essence of an object that has become so ordinary.”
