Leo Vroman was the most beloved poet in the Netherlands. But he was more than a Dutch literary gure; he was an artist and a highly acclaimed scientist with an incredible gift for engaging people through his multi-dimensional
view of life. He died in 2014 at the age of 98, yet his memory lives on through the warmth of his poems, the
intricacy of his art, and his scientic accomplishments.
Leo's Legacy is honored and dramatized in a new play entitled, "Touched by Blood", by Matty Selman. It is
based largely on Leo's unpublished writings and personal conversations, and tells the story of survival and the love he and his wife, Tineke, shared for over 75 years.
The first U.S. reading of "Touched by Blood" with a cast of veteran Broadway actors; John Pielmeier, Louise Sorel, Nance Williamson, and Bill Bowers, will be at the legendary Cherry Lane Theatre. This presentation will be Tuesday November 24, 2015 at 2:00 pm and is part of the Cherry Lane Theatre’s TONGUES reading series. These readings are free and open to the public, but reservations are required and seating is limited. There will be a short meet-and-greet with light refreshments immediately after the reading.
