Since 2006, The New York Art Bookfair has been part of summer in New York. During the weekend of September 16, artists’ books, catalogs, monographs, periodicals, and magazines are feautured in the MoMa PS1. The event, organized by Printed Matter, drew more than 35.000 visistors and over 370 exhibitors in 2015. The exhibitors represented 28 different countries last year, and for the 2016 edition the Netherlands has returned with a strong presence

Anouk Kruithof

Anouk Kruithof (1981) is a Dutch artist and lives and works between Mexico City, New York and Amsterdam.

 

Idea Books

Founded in 1976, Idea Books is a specialist wholesaler and distributor of books, exhibition catalogues, and DVDs on contemporary architecture, art, photography, design, fashion, and film. Our scope is international. We act as agents for publishers and institutions from many countries, and offer their books throughout the world.

 

4478ZINE

4478zine publishes and promotes all printed matter by Erik van der Weijde. Publications range from zines to books and also include collaborations with other artists and publishers.

 

DIABP

DIABP is a collective of independent Dutch publishers specializing in art, photography and artist books. We are artists / photographers / designers who publish books independently. The collective was founded in February 2016 in Amsterdam.

 

Elisabeth Tonnard

Elisabeth Tonnard is a Dutch artist who works mostly with appropriation. She is an artist-editor, an editor-poet. Her books often mash up found photography and literature. New books include a virtual library of books from burned paintings (The Library), a time and space crossing tale sampled from a range of biographies (The Death of the Poet) and a discovery of The Plan in East German propaganda books from the 1980s (The Plan).

 

Girls Like Us

GIRLS LIKE US is a bi-annual independent journal turning the spotlight on international expanding community of women from all breeds and gender within arts, culture and activism. Through personal stories, essays and vanguard visuals GIRLS LIKE US unfolds feminist legacies in a playful radical way. Mixing politics with pleasure, the magazine is mapping new routes towards a post-gender future.

 

Knust/Extrapool

Established by artists for artists in the 1980s, Knust is Extrapool's famous, infamous graphic workshop specializing in stencil (“mimeograph”) print. Located in Nijmegen, Netherlands, Knust is an essential part of the multi-omniverse of the Extrapool art space, creating an accessible printing and bookmaking workshop where many niches meet, greet, clash & mix.

 

Onomatopee

Onomatopee is a presentation-space based in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. Their projects, consisting of exhibitions and publications, infect the guts of intellect and the intellect of our guts; Onomatopee mediates between experts in work and devotes to expertise of life. In this, they bring together various backgrounds and disciplines.

 

Roma Publications

Roma Publications is an independent art publisher, founded in 1998 by artist Mark Manders and graphic designer Roger Willems used as a platform to produce publications in close collaboration with a growing number of artists, institutions, writers and designers.

 

supersupersupersuper

supersupersupersuper is a publisher / distributor based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. It is a mixture of Émilie Ferrat, François Girard-Meunier and Lieven Lahaye, among others.

 

Valiz

Valiz is an independent international publisher on contemporary art, theory, critique, design, typography and urban affairs. Their books offer critical reflection, interdisciplinary inspiration, and establish a connection between cultural disciplines and socio-economic questions. They publish these books out of their commitment to their content, to social issues and to the artists, designers and authors.

 

Werkplaats Typografie

Werkplaats Typografie is launching a new paper company, WT Pap(i)er, that produces and distributes a personified and self-described coated(er) paper that reveals different degrees of its previous life. The Werkplaats Typografie (WT), a part of the ArtEZ University of the Arts, is a paper company and multifaceted anomaly based in Arnhem, The Netherlands. The program is centered on practical assignments and self-initiated projects with lectures, workshops, seminars, meetings and readings geared towards self-accountable and independently motivated work and research.

 

Bookie Wookie

For nearly thirty years, Boekie Woekie has been Amsterdam's shop for artists' books. Run by three artists the shop stocks about 7,000 titles from around the world and is open seven days a week for browsing and buying. We update boekiewoekie.com regularly and publish on a small scale.

 

Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art

 

Witte de With sustains a curatorial position devoted to the production of publications. These become archives of the activity of writers, artists, curators, and designers alike. Witte de With’s publications range from catalogues to artists’ books, editions, readers, and the online platform WdW Revie.
