January in NYC is also known as “Performing Arts Month.” During this busy month, over 45,000 people converge at the many performing arts festivals and industry gatherings as a dozen leading U.S. and global performing arts organizations present a concurrence of events.
In collaboration with the Flanders House NY, the Dutch and Flemish will host a network reception to bring all this talent together and highlight the richness and depth of performing arts from the Low Countries.
From January 12 to 16 APAP|NYC will take place. APAP|NYC is the world's premier gathering of the performing arts presenting industry and the annual member's conference of APAP, the Association of Performing Arts Professionals. APAP|NYC is a founding partner of JanArtsNYC. A partnership of independent multidisciplinary festivals, industry convenings, and international marketplaces, JanArtsNYC is one of the largest and most influential gatherings of its kind.
As part of APAP, bassist Joris Teepe will perform with Dan Braden at the New York Hilton Midtown on January 14. For more information about this performance click here. The performance "Prototype: Secrets" at Sawdust in Brooklyn on January 13 is also part of APAP, for more information about this click here.
From January 9 to 11 ISPA (International Society for Performing Arts) will take place in New York. The congress theme is "Balancing Acts: Art, Community, and Leadership". The intersection of the creation and presentation of the arts, its role in our communities, and the transition to the next generation of arts leaders is indeed a balancing act. Global society is being shaped by many forces and this is having a fundamental impact on the arts sector. With this change, we also have the opportunity not only to reflect the changing values of our broader society but indeed shape them. How will the next generation of leaders approach this evolution and further the arts as a catalyst for positive transformation?

In June 2018, ISPA will take place in Leeuwarden, the Cultural Capital of Europe in 2018.
At the end of the month, from 24 to 27 January, the annual IPAY (International Performing Arts for Youth) Showcase and Conference will be held in Philadelphia, PA. At Showcase 2018, the theme of "Home" is celebrated. For the full schedule click here. Dutch Theater for Young Audiences will be represented by multiple ensembles, Dutch Performing Arts (Anja Krans) and DutchCultureUSA (Vera Kuipers).
