Jersey City Mayor breaks ground of Concrete designed URL Harborside Plaza

On Tuesday, January 14, 2014, Jersey City broke ground on the first of three skyscrapers of the URL Harborside Plaza project, designed by Dutch firm Concrete. “Not only will this be the tallest residential building in the state, the project also incorporates sustainability elements and develops a community-style concept through public spaces,’’ said Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop. “We are pleased to be breaking ground on this exciting project today.’’

About URL Harborside Plaza – Design

Concrete creates the design of three skyscrapers at Jersey’s City Harborside, directly opposite the skyline of downtown Manhattan New York. The plan is part of a new housing concept called Urban Ready Living (URL®) and is developed together with Ironstate Development. The towers – each 69 stories high – contain 2350 apartments, commercial spaces and a parking garage. The concept is based on providing affordable, compact but spatial and partly furnished rental apartments. The different types of apartments are flexible in use and therefore adaptable to any lifestyle. Common facilities such as a lobby, café, gym, roof gardens and terraces provide space for the residents and neighbors to meet and create a local community. The project started with the creation of an identity for this new housing brand, resulting in a holistic and integrated design for the architecture, landscape and the interiors of the building. The project completion of the first phase is scheduled for mid 2016.
