Winka Dubbeldam will be reappointed as Chair of the Department of Architecture in the School of Design of UPENN. The appointment will be for five years, beginning July 1, 2018 (when her current term ends) and ending on June 30, 2023.
Winka will also be named the Ella Warren Shafer Miller Professorship of Architecture coterminous with her position as Chair.
Under Professor Dubbeldam’s leadership, the Department of Architecture has grown and flourished. In the past four years, the Department has seen a dramatic increase in student enrollment, climbed in the DesignIntelligence rankings, established new academic programs, revamped curricula, expanded the use of digital fabrication and robotic technology, and launched the new Advanced Research and Innovation (ARI) Lab. Winka also oversaw a highly successful reaccreditation visit in fall 2015.
Winka Dubbeldam is a renowned, well respected architect, and the founder of Archi-tectonics. Next to her impressive architectural works, she values education and has lectured intensively at Columbia University, Harvard, Cambridge and Cornell.
