January 9 and 13 Amina Figarova performs at APAP (The Association of Performing Arts Presenters), and will continue to tour the US in the upcoming months.
Jazz composer and pianist Amina Figarova (born 1966 in Baku, Azerbaijan) began studying music as a child, beginning learning the piano, and expanding into musical composition and arrangement as she matured.
Figarova spent much of her career in Holland before settling in New York City in 2010 with her husband, sextet flautist Bart Platteau, and her newest release, Twelve, is her first to be recorded in New York. The CD draws inspiration from the energy of the city, and is her most accomplished and evocative to date. This date marks the SFJAZZ debut of a major artist at the peak of her powers.
