Awakenings festival will host a stage at Electric Zoo in NYC this year
Since 1997, long-running outdoor music festival Awakenings in the Netherlands has been the go-to destination for techno lovers around the globe. On September 4 & 5, Awakenings will make its way across the Atlantic for its North American debut with a stage at ELECTRIC ZOO: TRANSFORMED. On June 8th, artists who will be marking the occasion as confirmed performers have been announced.
These artists represent a sampling of what Awakenings presents at its massive flagship festival which takes place annually in June just outside Amsterdam. At Electric Zoo, techno fans can experience the debut of Get Real, the pairing of legendary techno producer and DJ Green Velvet with Claude Von Stroke, a live performance from Henrik Schwarz and sets from mainstays such as Paco Osuna and The Martinez Brothers alongside newcomers like Jennifer and Kolsch.
Awakenings founder Rocco Veenboer said: “We are very excited about being in New York City for Electric Zoo. The look and feel of the stage will be 100 percent Awakenings. Expect some familiar Awakenings names on the lineup. The Friday will have a stronger techno sound and the Saturday will be more tech house.”
During the festival many Dutch DJ’s will perform on other stages as well. These are the names that have already been announced; Oliver Heldens, Ummet Ozcan, Bassjackers, Don Diablo, Wiwek, Headhunterz, Ferry Corsten and Sam Feldt.
Electric Zoo is New York City’s premier electronic music festival. Electric Zoo: Transformed 2015 will take place Labor Day Weekend, Friday, September 4th through Sunday, September 6th, open to all fans ages 18+.
Labor Day Weekend 2015 will be reimagined and recharged as Electric Zoo: Transformed. For the festival’s seventh year, the annual Zoo theme and newly introduced Transformed concept will put Electric Zoo’s signature aesthetic on its best display yet. In collaboration with creative partner ID&T — the minds behind festivals such as TomorrowWorld, Mysteryland USA, and Sensation — a fresh look and proven expertise of production, crowd management and more will raise the bar on the Electric Zoo experience as it becomes Transformed.
Focus turns to bigger stages, brighter lights, recharged production. Refreshing art installations and interactive elements play into the festival’s zoo theme. Artist lineup caters to each and every festival-goer as sounds vary widely enough to cover all genres. From fan favorite headliners to tech and house marathon displays, expect landmark performances from some and longer sets from others.
Transformed is the music. Transformed is the people. Transformed is the memories. Transformed you, your friends, and your community lost in the world for one weekend. Transformed is Electric Zoo 2015.
