Sight Unseen OFFSITE
ByAMT, Alissia Melka-Teichroew, is exhibiting in the JOIN design’s REFLECT show, during NYCXDESIGN, at Sight Unseen OFFSITE, from May 13 – 16. They’re showcasing a curated selection of objects from independent designers and studios across the United States. Accepted designers will debut one-of-a-kind objects within the theme of REFLECT, that are made of a single material, with a maximum size of 8”x8”x8” and have not yet been showcased before.
About The REFLECT Showcase
From 32 selected designers, they curated 16 unique objects to showcase REFLECT at Sight Unseen OFFSITE. The act of reflection forces us to conjure up notions of both spiritual and meditative qualities. Introspective time for drawing parallels that are visual and spiritual. A change in direction or careful consideration– to reflect is to duplicate, to ponder, to echo.
A grid arrangement of column-like pedestals will give each object its sense of place, while the grid as a whole will create a dramatic sum of these parts. In conjunction to the objects display, we will produce a limited edition photographic catalog that will exhibit how and why each object was created and the designers behind them.

While developing her own original projects, Alissia Melka-Teichroew, also served a design residency at the renowned design consultancy IDEO and also worked on staff at Puma International. Alissia’s transcontinental background is reflected in her fluidity and fluency of her designs. Attuned to the latest design innovations, trends, and materials, she infuses her work with her own unique, charismatic personality and mischievous sensibility. Her products are savvy, sophisticated, and witty: the archetypical Acrylic Diamond Ring rendered in candy-colored acrylic, as well as Silver Diamond Ring, ceramic plates folded in easy-to-hold shapes, Handful of Plates, a mirror that transposes the viewers face over an iconic image of feminine beauty.

Founded in Seattle in 2008 as a means of giving the local design community a bigger and more united voice, JOIN has since expanded to the Pacific Northwest and beyond to include independent designers and studios from across the United States. About Sight Unseen OFFSITE
Sight Unseen is a design blog, a store, and a consultancy. Also, each May, they’re the producers and curators of one of the biggest, most important fairs held during New York Design Week: Sight Unseen OFFSITE. In their first year, they hosted presentations by the likes of Grey Area, Tai Ping, Kelly Behun, Field Experiments, and 50 independent design studios, not to mention an Instagrammable Calico Wallpaper still-life photo booth, a Print All Over Me pop-up, and a cocktail party with a line around the block. Last year, they added a Katie Stout pillow playground, an American Design Club exhibition, an organic cafe, and more. This year they’re stepping things up a major notch, with double the exhibition space and an even more ambitious curatorial program. Presented in partnership with Ford and running from May 13–16, Sight Unseen OFFSITE will once again be part of NYCxDESIGN.
