From January 17 to January 21 Screendance will take place in Miami. This year two Dutch participants will be present; Cinedans and Gabri Christa.
ScreenDance Miami is a weeklong festival that takes place each January around Miami. Directed by Pioneer Winter, ScreenDance Miami was originally produced by Tigertail Productions and offers skill-developing workshops for dancers and filmmakers, panel discussions and screenings. Now celebrating our fifth year, ScreenDance Miami is produced by Miami Light Project. Moving into its fifth year, ScreenDance Miami will be produced by Miami Light Project with continued direction by Pioneer Winter. ScreenDance Miami highlights choreographers and directors who are working with emerging and new concepts in regard to movement and dance on film and dance on camera. The festival has been created to support professionals in this field and to support the development of dance created for the camera.

Curaçao, Netherlands Antilles, born and raised Gabri Christa brings to her filmmaking and directing her background as a choreographer and performer. Now based in New York, she has received many awards for her Choreographies and Short Films including a Guggenheim Fellowship for her choreography. Her films have screened as Jury finalists in festivals in Tokyo, Atlanta, Denver and in Screen Dance festivals in Los Angeles, London, Amsterdam, New York and others, while her choreography has also been performed all over the world. As a performer she was among others, a dance member of the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, Danza Contemporanea de Cuba and DanzAbierta de Cuba (directed by Marianela Boan) of which she was one of the co-founders. Gabri Christa ‘s ongoing projects include Dance Conduction Continuum a Conduction Improvisation ensemble she co-directs with Germaul Barnes. From the fall of 2016 onwards, she will hold a position as Assistant Professor at Barnard College in New York, NY.
Cinedans is an international dance and movie festival featuring short and full-length dance films, documentaries and interactive installations.
