Cochius Exhibits In Newburgh From Oct 19

“Complex Ecologies” with Marieken Cochius and Jackie Skrzynski @ CMA Gallery Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, NY

Marieken Cochius will be on view in a two-person exhibition with Jackie Skrzynski in “Complex Ecologies” at the CMA Gallery of Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, New York. “Complex Ecologies” will initiate with an artist reception on October 19 from 5 to 7 pm. The reception and gallery are free and open to the public. The exhibition will run until December 14th, 2018.

About Marieken Cochius

Marieken Cochius is a Dutch-born artist who has lived and worked in New York City since 1987 and in the Hudson Valley since 2013. Her work encompasses drawing, painting, sculpture and printmaking. Cochius’ work has been exhibited in places ranging from New York City,  Berkeley, Austin, Los Angeles, to Japan, Germany and the Netherlands. Her work is in numerous private collections and some public collections in the US and Europe.  She has collaborated with musicians and other artists. A public sculptural commission was completed in 2017 for the Village of Wappingers Falls, NY and will be installed in 2018. Recent solo shows in 2016 were at Matteawan Gallery in Beacon, NY, and Holland Tunnel Gallery in Brooklyn, NY.  She has participated in two residencies at the Vermont Studio Center. Cochius has shown in recent group exhibitions at Ann Street Gallery, Newburgh, NY; Kentler International Drawing Center, Brooklyn, NY; LAB Space, Hillsdale, NY; Sideshow Gallery, Brooklyn, NY; Ube Gallery, Berkeley, CA; Brick Gallery, Catskill, NY.

The CMA gallery is located on the first floor of Aquinas Hall at Mount Saint Mary College. After the opening reception, the gallery will be open Monday through Friday during normal business hours, or by appointment.
