From 29 November until December 4 the galleries will be at the Art Miami sister fair
The Art Week in Miami has started, and the Dutch art galleries are taking over Miami. Villa del Arte and Public House of Art will be representing multiple Dutch artists at CONTEXT Art Miami. It is the sister fair to Art Miami, and is dedicated to the development and reinforcement of emerging and mid-career artists. You can visit the art fair from November 29 until December 4, one block north of Art Miami.
Launched in 2012, CONTEXT Art Miami’s open atmosphere creates a meaningful dialogue between artists, galleries and collectors while providing the ultimate platform for the presentation of mid-career, emergent and cutting-edge talent by emerging and established galleries. Ninety-five international galleries, vetted by the CONTEXT Art Miami Selection Committee, exhibit highlights from their gallery programs, solo artist exhibitions and curated projects. The combined efforts of CONTEXT Art Miami and Art Miami provide a unique and alternative opportunity for leading primary dealers and their artists to be marketed and promoted internationally during the most important week for contemporary art in America.
Bert van Zetten, Nemo Jantzen, Marcel and Jutta Huisman founded Villa del Arte Galleries in Barcelona in 1999. Their combined commitment, and passion for art, together with a unique approach and willingness to exhibit cutting-edge young artists alongside firmly established names has contributed to an ever-changing contemporary collection of a consistently high standard.
Over time Villa del Arte has developed into one of Spain’s leading contemporary art galleries. The gallery represents over 30 national and international, established and emerging painters, photographers and sculptors. In addition, we recently opened a new gallery in Amsterdam which has provided Villa del Arte with greater capabilities to undertake exhibition projects. With this new space, our international presence in the art scene has grown noticeably providing new opportunities and projects that we are already working on.
In 2006 after concentrating our focus on Spain, we participated in our first international art fair. Following this success we have since continued our international trajectory with numerous exhibitions, boutique fairs and renowned art fairs such as Context Art Miami, Art Chicago, Art London, Art Stage Singapore, Art Stage Jakarta, Art New York, FADA (Los Angeles), New Art Fair (France), Scope Basel, Asia Contemporary Art Show, Houston Fine Art Fair, Art Hamptons, Art Taipei, Art Palm Beach, LA Art Show, Contemporary Istanbul, India Art Fair and Art Toronto.
This constant travel provides beneficial opportunities by way of bringing exciting fresh international artists into our collection, whilst simultaneously gaining a close-up view of new artistic directions that are then often reflected in the permanent central Barcelona exhibition space.
Public House of Art clearly states that it is not an art gallery. Instead, they have the following statement: “We believe art is for all. To adorn the walls of castles and bedsits. To disrupt not bankrupt. To move, to shock, to offend or go fabulously with your sofa. We have bi-annual themed, eclectic shows that are open to all. We sell photographs in limited editions and unique one-off sculptures and paintings, verified by us and signed by the artist. We believe in housing art that is affordable yet highly collectable. That is why our art can go up in value and status. We have four price categories, House, Villa, Mansion and Castle, House = bottom of the market. Castle = top of the market. Find something to love, to covet, to own, to collect, to carry home and put in the living room.”
