Dubravka Ugrešić in PEN World Voices Festival

Amsterdam-based writer Dubravka Ugrešić will participate in two events at the PEN World Voices Festival in New York City from May 1-7. The author will take part in ‘Literary Quest: Wesbeth Edition’. In this event, residents will open their homes for readings by authors and a party in their legendary gallery. For tickets click here.

The other event Ugrešić takes part in is called ‘Forbidden: Too Nationalistic’, in which the follies of nationalism and art in the former Yugoslavia, both at home and in exile, will be discussed. For tickets click here. 

About Dubravka Ugrešić 

Ugrešić is the author of many critically acclaimed works, including The Museum of Unconditional Surrender, Baba Yaga Laid an Egg, Europe in Sepia, and Karaoke Culture, which was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award for Nonfiction. Ugresic left Croatia in 1993 after being labeled a “traitor” for her anti-nationalistic politics. She currently lives in Amsterdam. In 2016, she was awarded the Neustadt International Prize for Literature for her body of work.

The thirteenth annual PEN World Voices Festival of International Literature will focus its lens on today’s fractious relationship between gender and power.
