Dutch novelist Tommy Wieringa speaking at the Brooklyn Book Festival

On September 21 (2:00pm – 3:00pm) Tommy Wieringa will be speaking at A Force Unleashed, presented by the Brooklyn Public Library. It is the first time a Dutch novelist is present at the Brooklyn Book Festival. Among other authors, Tommy Wieringa will be speaking about the life changing roles that mothers and sisters played in their latest novels. These determined women exert a driving force upon the other characters that is sometimes debilitating, sometimes life saving and always transformational.

About Tommy Wieringa

Tommy Wieringa (b. 1967) has written works including the novels All About Tristan (over 15,000 copies sold), which won the Halewijn Prize in 2002, and Joe Speedboat, which meant his breakthrough (over 275,000 copies sold) and which won the Bordewijk Prize in 2006. His travel stories have been collected in the volume I Was Never In Isfahaan. Tommy Wieringa writes columns on art and literature for the Dutch NRC Handelsblad daily newspaper. His novel Caesarion was on the shortlist of the prestigious International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award 2013. His latest novel These Are The Names won the Libris Literatureprice in 2013.
