About Jules Deelder

Julius Anton Deelder is a Dutch writer and undoubtedly one of the Netherlands’ best-known poets. His poems cover topics such as life in the city of Rotterdam, drug use, and jazz. He is well known in the Netherlands for his live performances and appearances in Dutch popular media and owes much of his fame to public appearances, in which he combines a dandyish pose with a curious mixture of popular city humor and irony, dished up in an uncut Rotterdam accent. He collaborated with musicians and bands such as Herman Brood, Benjamin Herman and Bas van Lier to record and perform his poetry. His prominent role in the cultural life of Rotterdam earned him the nickname “night mayor of Rotterdam”.

The clubhouse is conveniently located in the heart of Manhattan, just across from Rockefeller Center and off Fifth Avenue. Members of the club are welcome to enjoy the comfort of the Lounge, the Library, bar and restaurant.
