LA Art Book Fair at The Geffen Contemporary

From February 12 until 14, the LA Art Book Fair takes place at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA with 8 Dutch participants. 

Girls Like Us

A bi-annual independent journal turning the spotlight on the international expanding community of woman within arts, culture, and activisim, Girls Like Us unfolds feminist legacies in a playful radical way. Mixing politics with pleasure, the magazine is mapping new routes towards a post-gender future. 

Idea Books

Founded in 1976, Idea Books is a specialist wholesaler and distributor of books, exhibition catalogues, and DVDs on contemporary architecture, art, photography, design, fashion, and film. Idea Books’ scope is international. They act as agents for publishers and institutions for many countries, and offer their books throughout the world. 

Knust / Extrapool

Knust in Extrapool represents a print- and bookbinding workspace. Since 1984, Knust has been highly specialized in stencilprinting, or mimeograph and Risography. 

Onomatopee

Based in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, Onomatopee is a publishing presentation space that focuses on visual culture. Projects are disseminated through exhibitions and publications that mediate between discourse and dialogue, and contemporary material experiment in the visual range and demystification in visual culture. 

Roma Publications

An independent art publisher fouded in 1998 by artist Mark Manders and graphic designer Roger Willems, Roma Publications is used as a platform to produce publications in close collaboration with a growing number of artists, institutions, writers, and designers. 

Sigrid Calon

The work of Dutch visual artist Sigrid Calon balances between the thin line of applied and fine arts. She is interested in the language and autonomous value of textiles. In the identity of ‘things’. She fell in love with RISO while making her first book in 2012. During the LAABF2016 she will present 2 new books: ALPHABET and Screening, the last one she made in collaboration with Willem Van Zoetendaal. 

Valiz

Valiz is an independent international publisher on contemporary art, theory, critique, design, typography and urban affairs. Our books offer critical reflection, interdisciplinary inspiration, and often establish a connection between cultural disciplines and socio-economic questions. We publish these books out of our commitment to their content, to artistic and social issues and to the artists, designers and authors. 

Werkplaats Typografie

Werkplaats Typografie is a two-year master’s program for graphic design that stimulates and practices critical reflection on the basis of a broad cultural perspective, engaging in artistic research involving content and form, text and image, theory and practice. The WT is supervised by leading graphic designers and located in Arnhem the Netherlands, it offers a maximum of 18 participants a well-equipped studio space that is accessible 24 hours a day. 

About LA Art Book Fair

Free and open to the public, Printed Matter’s LA Art Book Fair is a unique event for artists’ books, art catalogs, monographs, periodicals, and zines presented by over 250 international presses, booksellers, antiquarians, artists, and independent publishers. Printed Matter’s LA Art Book Fair 2015 saw over 34,700 visitors over the course of three and a half days. 

Printed Matter’s LA ART BOOK FAIR is the companion fair to Printed Matter’s NY ART BOOK FAIR, held every fall in New York. In September 2014, over 35,000 artists, book buyers, collectors, dealers, curators, independent publishers, and enthusiasts attended Printed Matter’s LA ART BOOK FAIR.
