In June and July, two of Joosje Duk’s films will be featured at two film festivals in the US.
June 17, from 1:40 to 4:00 PM, Duk’s film ‘Heavy Feathers’ will play at the SOHO International Film Festival as part of the shorts program, ‘Prince Street Series’.
From July 29-August 5, the Woods Hole Film Festival will take place in Woods Hole, MA. Duk’s film ‘NIGHT’ will be featured in the program.
‘Heavy Feathers’ tells the story of Myna (18), a young girl who finds out that her father, who passed away right before she was born, might still be somewhere out there. She is eager to find out the truth about her past, but the truth is not easy to come by with a sister who thinks a life in the dark is a better life, and a mother whose truth is a fairy tale she doesn’t even believe in herself.
In NIGHT, Joosje Duk’s second short film after Heavy Feathers, four friends from different backgrounds go out to a fancy club together. When they have an unpleasant encounter with the club’s bouncer, the dynamic between the girls changes completely.
