Guilie Castillo-Oriard presents ‘The Miracle of Small Things’ at La Casa Azul Bookstore

On September 2 Guilie Castillo-Oriard will present her new book ‘The Miracle of Small Things‘ at the La Casa Azul Bookstore in New York.

‘The Miracle of Small Things’ is a novel in stories, a portrait in 13 segments of what it means to be an expat. At the launch event, besides reading excerpts and signing books, author Guilie Castillo Oriard–a Mexican expat herself who transferred to Curaçao “for six months and, twelve years later, is still there–will read excerpts, sign books, and together with Truth Serum Press publisher Matt Potter, Australian by birth but a citizen of the world by nature, will be starting a conversation about the power of place in our definition of self.

The book tells the story of international tax lawyer Luis Villalobos who is lured to the tiny island of Curaçao anticipating a fast track to the cusp of an already stellar career. But the paradise we expect is so rarely the paradise we find.
