Jordy van den Nieuwendijk first New York solo exhibition WET! at MOEITY

From November 8 through December 9, MOEITY presents WET!, the first New York solo exhibition by Dutch artist Jordy van den Nieuwendijk.

Sat, Nov 8 - Tue, Dec 9  2014

Moiety is over the moon to present these newest works by Dutch artist Jordy van den Nieuwendijk.

Big Color and Magic Marks: swatches, splotches, patterns, lines, and signature shapes build positive form from negative space.

Like the great masters he references, Van den Nieuwendijk starts with still-lifes. Carving through two-dimensional fields of vivid color he turns table-top vignettes into bizarre compositions, playfully defining his subject through suggestion. The works cite what they’re missing – where’s the _____?

Nieuwendijk joins Moeity for his first solo exhibition in New York, expanding his repertoire through experiments in medium and method that activate these empty spaces and invite you in. Two large-scale hand-made rugs, along with accompanying screen-prints, paintings on mirror and sculptural canvases with integrated lighting vibrating cheerfully. Jordy is holding nothing back and is ready to get (his feet?) WET!
