ACTIVEWEAR BREAKFAST FW 16-17

  • Tuesday, July 21, 2015
  • 9:15am 10:30am
  • The Abbey

The ideas developed in this presentation explore the romantic way of re-forming a strong bond with the outdoors; proposing scenarios where activities are imbedded in the field, rooted in the woods and entrenched in the mountains. Silenced by the snow and inspired by the forest floor, clothes are at the same time functional and cultural, blending natural and synthetic textiles, introducing pattern to map a location and narrate the journey. Trends tell tales of the romantic yet are also realistic, blending both ideas equally in a saga of proven pieces and engaging colors.

MILLENNIAL LIFESTYLES

Young people today like nostalgia as much as they love technology. They embrace sustainable ways of living and the organic while also looking futuristic in sports-driven fashions and the latest accessories. Unplugged music merges with different samples from around the world, in search of new sounds and beats. Tribal influences and contemporary folklore redefine a sense of “new ethnic” that mirrors the local in today’s globalised market. These ideas and more will be analysed in a detailed seminar that focuses on millennials: understanding how this hybrid generation will inform and inspire the fashion and lifestyle industries. Textiles, accessories, pattern and typography will each play important roles in arming this target group to be evermore engaged in our young millennium!

FW 2016-17 – ANTI_FASHION

  • Wednesday, July 22, 2015
  • 9:00am 11:15am
  • The Abbey

This much-talked-about and thought-provoking presentation outlines the styles, fabrics and colours for the F/W 16-17 season, including strategic advice for the future of the clothing industry. The accumulation of many issues recently argue that the fashion industry has reached breaking point. This means that the economy of clothes will take over from the turnover of fashion. Therefore trend forecasting has changed as well, taking its leads from social change and finding creative ideas within lifestyle trends and consumer behavior. A break-through winter season focusing on textiles, garment-making and colours. It’s time to simply celebrate clothes!

This seminar will include a 30-minute audiovisual presentation plus a detailed look at color forecasting for the season.

Guests will receive a miniature FW 2016-17 trend book!

SS 2017 – EMANCIPATION

  • Wednesday, July 22, 2015
  • 11:15am 12:30pm
  • The Abbey

As the long-awaited follow-up to Trend Union’s ANTI_FASHION season, this seminar will preview SS 2017’s colours, textiles and styles. Radical change is needed to give shape to the 21st century, at last! A huge wave of innovation and rethinking needs to be set in motion, emancipating everything for everyone, every step of the way. We can review a colour, rethink a textile and rekindle a style as well as revolutionising the retail system of retail from within. With the parting of the old ways, the rupture with tradition and the detachment from generalised greed, we can envision a new departure with a disconnected and removed way of working, giving room to intuition and inspiration, free from self-imposed conventions and self-invented logic.

This seminar will include a detailed look at the colors and textiles for the season.

2017 HOME & LIFESTYLE

  • Thursday, July 23, 2015
  • 9:15am 11:15am
  • The Abbey

The circle is a potent social symbol of inclusiveness and togetherness; of a universal vision on our planet and our milky ways of life. The rounder edge of materials will deliver design for a softer and more harmonious interior and the round shapes of lighting will be emanating in a softer fashion, as if they possess an aura. Form will be further pushed to a perfected sphere with round tables, round stools and round carpets. In the process, legs will be turned, ceramics thrown and structures bended to abide by the rule of the round, confirming the remarkable return of the decorative arts. The result is a circular lifestyle forecast, which has no beginning and no end and can be turned round and round for inspiration in creation, information on colours and the realisation of materials.

This presentation will be followed by Trend Union’s Milan Report, outlining the major product trends from this year’s Salone del Mobile; including lighting, furniture, textiles, materials and home accessories.
