Lidewij Edelkoort presents S/S 2018 trends at the New School

On November 3, Lidewij Edelkoort will present the S/S 2018 trends at the New School, NY

Thu, Nov 3 - Thu, Nov 3  2016

On November 3 (9:30 AM – 12:30 PM), Lidewij Edelkoort will present the Spring/Summer 2018 trends in ‘Transition: The Trans-shaping of Clothes’ in the John Tishman Auditorium at the New School in New York. ‘Transition: The Trans-shaping of Clothes’ is a reaction to contemporary society. “The world is in flux and culture responds with fragments of ideas, sketches of innovative forms and creative utopian concepts. We look forward to ambiguous and rather unfathomable times, tasting moments of promises, and experiencing instants of doubt, knowing that there are many wrongs in society, witnessing the decline of its institutions. We are living in a bipolar moment in time where we can go from a jubilant personal experience to dismal public aggression, from an absolute high when encountering the outdoors, to a depressing low, living in the outskirts of gentrified cities, it is a transversal construction of time and space. Textiles and clothes react with various designs, blurring borders, obscuring codes, transforming patterns and transfiguring shapes.”

Throughout the morning, Li Edelkoort will look back at the New York Textile Month of September, focussing on interior and fashion textiles. Edelkoort’s assistant, Philip Fimmano, will address the topic of Men’s and Women’s Activewear. He will focus on Future aesthetics, inspired by nature: ‘Bio-Athletics’. All participants will receive a S/S 2018 trend book at the end of the morning. Purchase tickets here
