The exhibition Lines of Connection at the Getty Center in Los Angeles explores the rich history of drawing and printmaking in Europe, tracing how these closely related media developed and influenced each other over several centuries. Featuring key loans from the Rijksmuseum, the exhibition places a spotlight on Dutch artists and their contributions to this evolving artistic dialogue.

Included are works by Dutch artists Maerten van Heemskerck, Rembrandt, Philippe Galle, Hendrick Goltzius, Hendrik Goudt, Hendrick Hondius, Gerard de Lairesse, and Jacob Matham. From the 15th century, when drawing and printmaking gained prominence, to the 19th century, when photography and changing ideas of originality reshaped their relationship, Lines of Connection presents how artists worked creatively across media, often challenging traditional boundaries. Extending these themes into the contemporary moment, the exhibition also features works by Los Angeles–based artist Toba Khedoori, whose practice reflects ongoing intersections between drawing and printmaking.
