Maison the Faux Presents ‘Faux Cosmetics’ at NYFW

On February 11, Maison the Faux presented ‘Faux Cosmetics’ during New York Fashion Week

Sat, Feb 11 - Sat, Feb 11  2017

Pier 59 - New York Consulate Region

On February 11, MAISON the FAUX presented their show ‘FAUX COSMETICS’ during New York Fashion Week at Pier 59 studios. The main ingredients of the ‘FAUX COSMETICS’ formula were confusion, desire, individualism, perplexion, ego, deterioration, passion, expression, recyclable trash, faded faux, glamour, and a way of life. ‘FAUX COSMETICS’ makes you evoke a strong desire for lipstick-infused, decomposed glamour. It is seducing with a fake sense of beauty and offers a luxurious facade. The FAUX COSMETICS collection consists of a series of dramatic looks, telling a story about the label’s obsessions with masking what they cannot hide. Nonchalant, laced red satins like vivid lipsticks and foundation colored wools conceal the body. Twisted seams emulating lipstick tubes shape the collection. Blouses with puffy sleeves and embroidered lipstick swatches are designed for each individual to pick the right color to match their brown paper bag. The MAISON the FAUX signature denim pieces are added to the rich palette of the collection. Patent off-the-shoulders power suits don’t stop the FAUX models diving into the trash, looking for lipsticks to add to their latest beauty routine.

Items from the ‘Faux Cosmetics’ collection can be ordered in ‘MAISON the FAUX the BOUTIQUE‘.

About MAISON the FAUX

MAISON the FAUX is a creative studio posing as a grand couture fashion house. The house aspires to be an affectionate reaction to the current fashion industry and a big faux wink in the direction of an audience liberated enough to move freely through an often narrow-minded world. ‘The Fictional House’, a rough translation of MAISON the FAUX, is rooted in a great sense of humour and self-mockery, combined with a deep love of fashion. MAISON the FAUX represents a new outlook on masculinity and femininity creating “Humanwear”. As head of the creative team of MAISON the FAUX, designers Joris Suk and Tessa de Boer head the Arnhem-based fashion House. For every collection and project MAISON the FAUX collaborates with creative individuals, the so-called “Résidents” looking to shake up the fashion scene, create room for young designers and to innovate design and production. On the 23rd of January 2014, MAISON the FAUX was officially launched at Amsterdam Fashion Week, debuting the label’s unique signature for the first time. Since its launch MAISON the FAUX released 4 collections: ‘It’s Cleaning Day!’, ‘Make a U-turn if Possible’, ‘C’est Vrai ou C’est FAUX?, and its New York Fashion Week debut ‘Chubby Chaser‘. The Maison the Faux shows have attracted widespread attention due to their conceptual and theatrical character.
