March Film Month: Dutch Films Screened Throughout The Country

In March, several Dutch productions or co-productions will be screened on several film festivals throughout the country.

In March, a bunch of Dutch productions and co-productions will be screened on several film festivals throughout the country. Check out the following screenings to see what’s happening in your neighbourhood!

Glas Animation Festival

March 3-6, Berkeley, CA.

GLAS (Global Animation Syndicate) hosts an annual film festival focused on animated films called ‘GLAS Animation Festival‘. The Netherlands will be the festival’s ‘Country in Focus’. For more information about the Dutch presence at the festival, click HERE

Chicago European Union Film Festival

March 4-31, Chicago, IL.

The Chicago European Union Film Festival is your ticket to experiencing the creativity and vibrant cultures of twenty-eight nations from the comfort of your theater seat. Chicago premieres of 62 new features distinguish this largest showcase in North America for cinema from European Union nations.  On Friday, March 4, the host will be Consul General of The Netherlands Klaas van der Tempel. The special guest is actor Issaka Sawadogo, featured in the openingnight film ‘The Paradise Suite‘, a powerful drama in which the compromised lives of five strangers intersect in today’s Amsterdam.

Both of the films will be screened at the Gene Siskel Film Center.

Socially Relevant Film Festival

March 14-20, New York, NY.

There are two Dutch screenings on this years SR Socially Relevant Film Festival New York, a new non-profit film festival that showcases socially relevant films with human interest stories as a response to the proliferation of violence and violent forms of storytelling. SR Socially Relevant Film Festival New York believes in promoting positive social change through the powerful medium of cinema.

Both of the films will be screened at Chelsea Bowtie Cinemas.

Queens World Film Festival

March 15-20, New York, NY.

Turning six in 2016, The Queens World Film Festival includes an annual multi day/multi venue festival, youth-oriented educational initiatives and year round screening opportunities for QWFF filmmakers, past and present. The festival is programmed in thematic blocks with evocative titles, and each program is followed by a post-screening dialogue to engage audiences from the demographically diverse communities that comprise the borough of Queens. This year the film ‘We Had Plans‘ with Dutch actress Gwen Albers will be screened at March 17, 9.30 PM at the All Saints’ Episcopal Church.

Film: Bodkin Ras

Dutch-produced film ‘Bodkin Ras’ will be shown at South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas. For more information about ‘Bodkin Ras’, click HERE.

Film: Bird Ranger: No Time, Only Tide
