On Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at 6:30 PM, Mels Crouwel of Benthem Crouwel Architects in Amsterdam will give his lecture, “The Dutch Way,” at IIT College of Architecture.

Mels Crouwel

An architect with a passion for art and culture and known for paying great attention to functionality and sustainability, Mels Crouwel has worked on many internationally renowned museums, public buildings, and cultural platforms. Crouwel graduated as an engineer from the Faculty of Architecture at Delft University of Technology in 1978. The following year, 1979, he founded “Benthem Crouwel Architects” together with Jan Benthem. The bureau, which has been operating successfully for over three decades, aims to deploy architecture to create a new urban character and contribute to the city of the future. Benthem Crouwel Architects’ work is rooted in the Dutch tradition that marries understatement and efficiency with innovation and self-criticism.
