From July 8-12 Nederlands Dans Theater 2 performs at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival
Nederlands Dans Theater 2 at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival Wednesday, July 8 through Saturday July 11 at 8pm Saturday, July 11 and Sunday, July 12 at 2pm
-Sunday Independent (London)
In their first appearance at Jacob’s Pillow since 2007, the exquisite dancers of Nederlands Dans Theater 2 (NDT2) master striking contemporary works. An abiding commitment to commissioning work from today’s most creative choreographers continues to distinguish NDT2 as one of the most important international dance companies. NDT2 rarely tours in the Northeast and this exceptional company is certain to be a highlight of the Festival season.
An energetic, powerful program includes Sara created especially for NDT2 by Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar of Israel, and new works by prolific Spanish-British choreographic duo Sol León & Paul Lightfoot including Schubert; Shutters Shut; and Some Other Time danced to a poignant score by composer Max Richter. Plus, I New Then by Swedishdancemaker Johan Inger, bursting with youthful exuberance and danced to songs by Van Morrison.
A pre-show talk led by a Pillow Scholar-in-Residence will take place 30 minutes prior to each show, and a post-show talk will be offered with artists and a Scholar-in-Residence on Friday, July 10th immediately following the performance.
