Rafaël Rozendaal included in first auction dedicated to digital art at Phillips, NYC, in partnership with Tumblr
Phillips and Tumblr have partnered with curator Lindsay Howard to present Paddles ON!, the first auction dedicated to digital art at Phillips, including work by Rafaël Rozendaal. Artists will receive 80% of the proceeds and the remaining will be donated to Rhizome, the leading non-profit organization dedicated to supporting new media and digital art since 1996. Online bidding ends October 10 at 7PM and highest bids will transfer to the live auction at Phillips. An exhibition of the work is on view at 450 Park Avenue, New York from 5 – 12 October 2013.
Exhibition artists: Silvia Bianchi + Ricardo Juárez, Petra Cortright, Alexandra Gorczynski, Joe Hamilton, Ilja Karilampi, Brenna Murphy, Aude Pariset, Sabrina Ratté, Casey Reas, Rafaël Rozendaal, Nicolas Sassoon, Molly Soda, Kate Steciw, Mark Tribe, Clement Valla, Addie Wagenknecht, and Jamie Zigelbaum.
Paddles ON! is an exhibition and auction that brings together artists who are using digital technologies to establish the next generation of contemporary art. Presented in collaboration with Tumblr, this collection is the first digital art auction at Phillips, in recognition of the increasing viability of this work in the contemporary marketplace.
Artists will receive 80% of the sale profits and the remaining proceeds will be donated to Rhizome, the leading non-profit organization dedicated to supporting new media and digital art since 1996.
