About StereoType

StereoType is a groundbreaking exhibition that presents works by an array of 14 established and up-and-coming designers from The Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Japan, Canada, France, the United States, Israel, Germany, and Australia. By exploring the opportunities at the intersection of technology and design, this new breed of artists is expanding the boundaries of traditional typography and integrating elements from the fields of animation, craft, performance, nanoscience, and graffiti into their work. Curated by Ginger Gregg Duggan and Judith Hoos Fox of c2 curatorsquared, the exhibition heralds a departure from conventional typographical approaches focused on two-dimensional letters by incorporating the elements of time, movement, and the third dimension.

Boston Society of Architects – Nov 2014 – May 2015

Don’t miss the opening reception for StereoType: New directions in typography at Boston Society of Architects on November 13, 2014 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. This special event is the first opportunity to explore the exhibition (on view through May 25, 2015), while enjoying complimentary drinks and hors d’oeuvres. Then, at 7:00 pm join for an optional Q&A session with three of the artists and designers behind this groundbreaking exhibition: Brian Banton, Mashashi Kawamura, and Edhv‘s Remco van de Craats (see video).

StereoType will premiere at BSA Space on November 13, 2014 and feature some of the boldest experiments in typography today. The exhibition then travels to venues across the United States through 2016.

Selby Gallery – Aug 2015 – Sep 2016

Stereotype: New directions in typography, opening at Selby Gallery at the Ringling College of Art and Design on August 14 –September 16, 2015.

There will be a free public opening on Friday, August 21 from 5-7 pm and a curators talk on Monday, August 24 at 11:30 am.

The exhibition will travel to several locations around the U.S. with the Ringling College of Art and Design the only Florida venue. Admission is free and open to the public. 

SUMMER HOURS: Monday-Friday, 10am-4pm

Selby Gallery is located on the Ringling College of Art and Design campus, one-half block east of 2700 N. Tamiami Trail on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Way in Sarasota. All Selby Gallery exhibitions and presentations (and most of our special events) are free and open to the public.

About Edhv

States design studio Edhv on their website: “We can best be described as ‘architects of identity.’ We are multidisciplinary so all aspects of an identity can be fully integrated. Project teams include a range of specialties like graphic, new media and spatial design. To achieve the ultimate result, we believe a base of trust, coupled with intensive collaboration with our client and its organization is vital.”

Edhv is a graphic design studio that has slowly migrated into much more than that because of its broad orientation on the subject. The studio was founded by Daan Melis (publisher) and Remco van de Craats (designer) in 2005 and is located in Eindhoven. Edhv has grown from a two-man initiative to a team of seven dedicated design professionals. The company is run by Remco van de Craats (creative-director/owner) since 2009 and consists of Lenneke Heeren (graphic design), Linda Rommens (graphic design), Thomas Kampers (new media design), Lody Aeckerlin (new media design), Wendy Plomp (spatial design) and Esther Severijns (project manager).
