Kicking off SBFF’s 28th year is the U.S. premiere of the Dutch film Sea of Time. Two young people are madly in love with each other, but a disastrous accident during a sailing trip over the ocean, drifts them apart. 35 years later, they meet again. Short At a Glance (Ruud Satijn) is about a pizza delivery guy, who suspects domestic violence is taking place behind the doors of a wealthy customer. Read more here.
The Stony Brook Film Festival, presented by Island Federal, is in its 28th year at the Staller Center for the Arts. This year’s Festival will run from Thursday, July 20, through Saturday, July 29, 2023. All features are paired with a short film, and most films will feature an in-person Q&A with filmmakers. Attendees are invited to vote on the films each night and the winners are announced at the closing night awards ceremony. With hundreds of artists creating 36 films from 26 countries, the Stony Brook Film Festival at the Staller Center for the Arts will become a hub for some of the best filmmakers working today, a meeting ground for favorite actors and rising stars, and a showcase of new masterpieces.
