Bodkin Ras Poster

Bodkin Ras

The people in Forres don’t work. Between ten and five they dissolve into the mist, after which they head like wrinkled shadows towards the pubs, where the light always shines as a warm glow in their midst.

The story of Bodkin Ras takes place in a small town on the north coast of Scotland. This is where Red James and Lily, the initial protagonists of the documentary, live. Lily is an eighteen-year-old girl. With her parents she moved from London to this far corner of Europe. She doesn’t identify with the rough way of life in this place and dreams of the day she can move away. Red James spent years in Morocco, where he learned Arabic and developed a strong affinity with Islam. For many years he’s been working on a mystical manuscript, and it only lacks a final chapter.

Then Bodkin Ras, a stranger, arrives in Forres. He comes to this remote corner of Europe to hide and lay low. This turns out to be impossible in a little town where rumors spread faster than the plague. People watch him vigilantly.

But Bodkin manages to earn the trust of the community and finds a job as a park employee. Just when he thinks he can start building a lasting relationship with his new environment, disaster strikes. Lily mysteriously disappears, and was last seen with Bodkin. It’s not long before the locals start suspecting him, and when his past life in the Netherlands catches up with him, the impasse appears to be complete. While the reporter from the local “Forrest Gazette” newspaper finds more and more clues to entrap him, Bodkin risks everything to prove his innocence.

Crooked 180

Crooked 180

The story of “Crooked 180” centers around Marley, a 17-year-old kid who fills his days with skating, graffiti, smoking weed, and girls. Marley is an only child who lives with his parents. His home situation is at a critical point: his father suspects his mother of cheating and there’s a constant tension in the house. Marley gets put in the idle of these situations and seeks refuge outside. Outdoors and indoors are two separate worlds with completely different rules. Outdoors, the world is malleable, and there isn’t much to do, adventures can be created. Indoors, Marley has no control and no influence and is at the mercy of the whims of his parents.

Edmond

In this BAFTA award winning short animation, “Edmond’s” impulse to love and be close to others is strong… maybe too strong. As he stands alone by a lake contemplating his options, he goes on a journey backwards through his life, and revisits all his defining moments in search for the origin of his desires.
