TriBeCa Film Festival – “Silver Haze”, “Il Fait Beau” and “Emojiii”

This June, the prestigious TriBeCa Festival will take place in New York City, with several Dutch contributions.
Silver Haze
Feature film Silver Haze, directed by Sacha Polak, is about 23-year-old Franky (Vicky Knight), who has spent most of her life seeking justice for the fire that left her with physical and emotional scars as a child. This gives her cover to put up walls between herself and people who love her and provides her with a drive for justice. Working as a nurse in the same hospital where her life was saved, Franky is beloved by her patients—including Florence (Esme Creed-Miles), who is there recuperating from a suicide attempt. The two women fall in love, news that is not well received at home for Franky. So, the pair run away to the more welcoming environment of Florence’s patchwork family. But Florence’s erratic behavior and Franky’s deep anger make for a combustible relationship. Read more here.

Il Fait Beau
Short film Il Fait Beau, directed by Leonardo Cariglino, is about Jean who meets Olivia working at the FEBO-snackbar in a poetic, romantic and comedic story about finding happiness. Il Fait Beau is selected for Tribeca’s Shorts program. The 2023 shorts lineup includes 76 total selections – 62 shorts in competition, eight music videos, and six special screening shorts – from 91 filmmakers across 25 countries. The lineup includes 48 world premieres, three international premieres, two North American premieres, one U.S. premiere, and 22 New York premieres. Read more here.
