SPOKEN New York will have US and Dutch artists performing on stage. Writers of all sorts perform their work in front of an audience, without any aid of music, light, and sheets or bundles. These writers are poets, slam poets, spoken word artists, authors, rappers, singer-songwriters, columnists, comedians, motivational speakers, bloggers, etc.

The event will be hosted by none other than former Def Poet Black Ice, who has performed on international SPOKEN events twice in the Netherlands. Also national poetry slam finalist and Southern Fried regional champion Kane ‘Novakane’ Smego will attend this first SPOKEN edition.

SPOKEN has been called an interactive poetry event, however not too many people will experience a light-bulb moment after that explanation. Still, this successful poetry event has been perfected in over 20 editions and 4 languages, featuring Portuguese speaking Brazilian performers in Sao Paulo, Dutch and English speaking poets in Amsterdam and even Surinamese speaking writers in Paramaribo.
