Art Gallery O-68 is a gallery for contemporary art, which offers space to young and established (inter)national artists with. The gallery started in 2011, organizes an average of 6 exhibitions and takes part in 4 (inter)national art fairs per year, now for the first time at VOLTA New York. The choice of works is explicitly based on the quality of contemporary art in the broad sense, not a specific technique or movement. Once every 3 years, the gallery presents the ‘International O-68 Award for Visual Artists’, an incentive prize of € 10,000 for visual artists from the Dutch border provinces, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany, and Flanders, Belgium, who graduated between 7 and 14 years earlier. The prize aims to stimulate artists in the period in which for many a turning point in their careers takes place. Wieteke Heldens won this prize in 2017. The gallery is located at Oranjestraat 74, Velp, NL, built in 1883 as a gym, since 1953 used as a church and acquired by the gallery in 2019. Next to the gallery at Oranjestraat 70, is Depot-o68, a villa with 9 rooms furnished in Art Deco style with works on sale of artists who exhibited in the gallery.
